Finished This Week (and last):
Blue Labyrinth is the 14th book in the Pendergast series. Aloysius Pendergast is a very unique character who is an agent with the FBI. The mysteries in this series are very interesting and some have really taken work on my part to suspend my disbelief. Some of these mysteries really border on fantasy novels, which is not my favorite genre. Yet, I keep coming back for more of this series. The characters are so well developed and I feel like they are old friends and I want to know more about their stories.
Guts by Raina Telgemeier has been sitting on my shelf for over a year. I have no idea why it took me so long to pick it up. She does such a great job of telling her stories and really bringing the reader into her experience. I completely saw myself as a young girl in this story of anxiety and the physical ways it manifests. This is another wonderful graphic novel!
Pizza Girl was an interesting book, but I didn’t really like the main character or the circumstances in which she was finding herself. There was something about the way the book was written that kept me reading it, but I don’t know that I would recommend the book. At least it was a quick read.
The Mystery of Mrs. Christie is well done. I actually knew nothing about the life of Agatha Christie before reading this book. I found it really interesting to learn a little about her family and I am intrigued and will be looking for some biographies to learn more. Marie Benedict tells a good story and I would recommend this one as well as all of her other books. I love what she is doing with finding interesting stories of women in history and highlighting those stories in historical fiction. I will be anxiously awaiting her next book!
Books I am Currently Reading:
I am still reading The Art of Coaching. I didn’t get as much time to read this week as I thought I would get so haven’t really made much progress in this one.
Crimson Shore is number 15 in the Pendergast series. It started out intriguing and I am interested to see what types of twists and turns will come out in this one.
I wanted to find some middle grade or young adult books to read, so I took my chances and browsed my Libby app to see what was available. I found Space Case by Stuart Gibbs. So far, it is really good. I like the murder mystery element mixed into a science fiction book. I am really enjoying this one and even more so since it is the first book in a trilogy, so may lead me to more middle grade books.
What’s Next?
Honestly, with everything that I am currently reading, I just want to focus on that. I will probably pick up another Must Read in 2021 title after I finish these books.
